Fabric Pomanders Balls
Oh My Goodness... this is the most long and annoying task we have been met with so far! But I hope they look amazing in the church. We are making 38 fabric pomanders balls, 5 inch. We are still trying to decide if we want to do the damask ribbon or if we just want to use black ribbon.
The Sample
so here is what you do
step 1: cut circles, find a size you want, we used a cashew can
step 2: place line of hot glue in center and fold fabric in half
step 3: place a line on the bottom in the center of hot glue, fold in half and then fold again.
step 4: hold together at the bottom for a few seconds
step 5: repeat a million and 10 times
step 6: poke hole in the ball and fill with hot glue
step 7: Place fabric flower in the ball
step 8: repeat 6 & 7, start by making a line around the middle, then do a line the other way and fill in the spaces.
step 9: I am working on ways to secure ribbon. We hot glued it in, and then I smacked the ball hard playing with dog and it broke. Other knotties suggested floral pins or cutting a hole through the middle.

The working project
Above is the Fabric we are using, it might not look like a lot, but the white is 25 yards of muslim fabric (which is nice, because it is 1.99 a yard full price, so I used a 50% off coupon and got it for 99 cents a yard. There is 19 yards of fuchsia fabric there and we will probably need more.
.
The supplies we used, we used a can of cashews to trace, a sharpie, a good pair of scissors (you will thank yourself later) hot glue and glue sticks.
.
Tracing circles, I talked brent into actually tracing all the circles and i would cut them, so he took away a third of the work for me.
.
Ladies night, with some circle cutting. Erin, Katie, and I had a circle cutting night where we got a good chuck of the cutting and tracing done. With a little lady talk and box wine, of course.
.
Here is the damage! lol, we never figured out how many we bought, ha ha ha brent and I counted 2 times and got different numbers and the cashier counted twice and got 2 different numbers than us. We think we have about 34 here, we bought all they had, we got them at Flower Factory with a 10% off coupon, originally they were 1.80 each. so it saved us money overall.
.
After about 5 weeks of cutting, all the PINK IS DONE!!!
.
OMG... at 4:54 on October 8th, I finally finished cutting circles!!! I am so excited to not look at a pair of scissors for a while!
Unfortunately if you notice there is about 5 more yards of white fabric than pink, but I am hoping that we will have enough pink that we will not have to start all over again, with the cutting process! You have no idea how excited I am to move on from tracing and cutting. It has been about 10 weeks since the start and I did about 98% of the white all by myself.

This is about 725 folded and glued flowers! It took about 4-5 days to do over about a 10 day period, I did not do any while I worked and this about half of the pink. This is definitely the easier part of the project thank god, because the circles took forever.
OH MY GOD!! They are finally done! I cannot believe this project is over with. We started the first week of August and I finished my last one on Wednesday morning, so a little over 4 months! There are 10 white 5 inch pomanders and 8 fuchsia pomanders. These were a labor of love but I am so happy I did them, currently I am trying to decide if I want to place a bow on it, i think i like the bow but I might wait until closer to the wedding to date to decide. below are the 2 choices of the bows, I will make bow 2 smaller.
